The Chevrolet Camaro Pace Car as used during the 1967 Indianapolis 500. the car was driven by Mauri Rose with Tony Hulman Jr as the passenger. The Indianapolis 500 race has used a pace car since 1911. The pace car has two purposes. At the start of the race, the pace car leads the assembled starting grid around the track for a predetermined number of warm-up laps. When the officials deem appropriate, it releases the field at a purposeful speed to start the race. In addition, during a yellow flag caution period, the pace car enters the track, picks up the leader and bunches the field up at a reduced speed. A Spark 1:43 scale model.
