The Peugeot 205 GTI 1.9 in Red. The 205 is a supermini produced by from 1983 to 1998 and was declared 'car of the decade' by CAR Magazine in 1990. The 205 was an instant hit and its styling was echoed in every Peugeot model that followed. The exterior styling was never significantly altered in its 15-year production run. In late 1990 the 205 did receive a new door design and cards, clear front indicators, new 'smoked' rear light clusters, single point petrol injection. Catalytic converters were also introduced, to meet the new 1992 pollution limits. Despite the competition from the Renault Clio, Rover Metro, Volkswagen Polo and Ford Fiesta, the 205 was still widely regarded as the benchmark car in this sector by 1990.
